Ag Labor Survey CFVGA
A comprehensive agriculture labor survey of Colorado producers is underway.
It’s the first such survey in decades and covers on-going challenges like wages, visas, affordable housing, and market competition.
Drake: “It is CFVGA members. It is also other industries, dairy, row crops, ag wide.”
Marilyn Bay Drake is Executive Director of the Colorado Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association. The first look at the survey’s findings will be at the CFVGA’s annual conference in February.
Drake: “Really get a lot of data from growers, what they need, what the challenges are in regard to labor to workers”
Colorado State University Extension is collaborating on the survey with the CFVGA, Rocky Mountain Farmers Union, National Young Farmers Coalition, Colorado Department of Labor and Employment, Colorado Farm Bureau, Colorado Nursery and Greenhouse Association, and others.
The CSU Extension says it will use this data to create educational programs and resources and help inform influencers and decision-makers about the ag labor conditions in Colorado. The ultimate goal is to find solutions to persistent challenges.
The Colorado Fruit and Vegetable Growers online conference, where the first results will be shared, takes place on February 17 and 18.
Producers are being asked to respond to the survey by February 1st.
