I’m Bob Larson. Washington agriculture just got some inside help at the EPA after the announced appointment of Michael Crowder to the EPA’s Farm, Ranch, and Rural Communities Committee.

U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse says Crowder’s appointment by EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler was a great choice …

NEWHOUSE … “The purpose of which is to ensure that the agency, the EPA, understands what the impacts of their decisions are on rural communities and particularly our agricultural industry.”

Newhouse says when it comes to appointments like these, experience matters …

NEWHOUSE … “Michael comes into this with a tremendous resume. He’s got a lot of experience. He’s the president-elect of the National Association of Conservation Districts, and we know him locally as the manager of the Barker Ranch just outside of West Richland.”

And when it comes to Crowder, Newhouse says, he understands …

NEWHOUSE … “Truly, I think, more than almost anybody else I can think of, has a unique understanding of how EPA decisions can impact Central Washington’s farms and our communities as well.”

And, he says Crowder has what it takes …

NEWHOUSE … “I believe that he will be able to provide truly valuable and vital input for the Environmental Protection Agencies.”

Newhouse says he’s confident agriculture in Central Washington and around the country will now be well represented.
