What Do We Call Fake Meat?
What should we name the so-called "meat" products that come from cell cultures. Right now it's called Fake Meat, beyond meat, mock meat, faux meat, imitation meat, vegetarian meat..and the list goes on.
So, what do we call it? More specifically, Matthew Michael with the USDA says, how should it be labeled when some look for it in the grocery store?
Meanwhile - more fake meat will soon be offered - as Taco Bell recently announced they will add those items to it's menu.
Taco Bell’s new chief executive officer, Mark King, announced that the fast food chain will incorporate plant-based proteins into its menu within a year, according to a Bloomberg News article published on Monday. This reverses Taco Bell’s previous strategy, which focused on promoting its existing vegetarian options.
King, who was previously president of Adidas North America, took over at Taco Bell last August. He has reportedly met with faux-meat purveyors Beyond Meat Inc. and Impossible Foods Inc. since taking the reins at Taco Bell.
According to Bloomberg News, Taco Bell is still deciding which plant-based foods its menu will feature.
