As the mother of three very different boys, I can tell you all were bored to tears by school. For active little boys, and big boys it is pure torture to be plopped in uncomfortable desk and expected to focus on a book or teacher for hours at a time. I was thrilled when I was learned of a program called PRIME that enable teachers to educate children about our primary industries (Ag, Forestry, Fishing, Mining, and Petroleum/energy) through a method that seems more like an adventure then a class. Now entering it's fourth year, the PRIME Curriculum Alliance has reached over 8700 students in Washington and Idaho and Oregon teachers now have access to PRIME as well. Through activities students discover how a watershed works, the steps to process milk or the development of a chick inside an egg. Geared to K through 5 the Prime Curriculum is available free to teachers. Go to. primecurriculum.com. to discover how education can be exciting even for little boys. It is Prime time teachers learn about PRIME.
