Setup
Being setup has to be taken for fun or as a challenge. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be back to tell you how I got setup.
Dry Landers should never go fishing on any water bigger than a good sized stock water tank, but when my brother-in-law, Vince offered to take me salmon fishing the thoughts of those fresh-caught salmon fillets barbequing on the grill overshadowed my better judgment and I couldn't wait to jump in the boat. Well, I probably didn't take all the precautions I should have and probably ate all the wrong foods before going out on the waves, but then I don't recall a whole lot of advice from Vince either. I wonder if I was getting setup? Looking back, I think the setup started long before when Vince first barbequed salmon for mehe knew I liked to eat so the rest was easyjust dangle the bait of a good salmon meal and then mention we could catch some if I'd like to go on the boat sometime. I know now his quick-thinking, devious mind was planning all the steps to get this dry land pseudo-cowboy seasick. I sure took the bait, but I did make it out of the marina and out over the big waves of the bar to open waterI was pretty proud. Vince got us fishing but he sure seemed interested in how I felt. I knew he was just waiting, and I knew he was going to get his wish. But at least I made him wait until finally I just couldn't quit thinking about those gentle, steady, rolling waves and I had to get on my knees and talk to all the pretty fish in the ocean. Tomorrow, I'll tell you about a little payback. I'm Jeff Keane.
