11/30/05 Where are the farmers?

For the life I me I can't figure out where all the farmers are when it comes to championing bio diesel fuel? Tell me what don't they get? Any other business owner when confronted with such a new market ripe with potential would be all over it. But no, our farmers remain remarkably silent instead an old hippie, Willie Nelson and a old mermaid Daryl Hannah are out promoting the virtues of converting to a fuel source that stands to revolutionize rural America. Old Willie, now he gets it! He is now on the. and has founded a company called Willie Nelson's Biodiesel that he hopes will become a fixture at trucks stops throughout the US. The fuel aptly named " Bio Willie" might sound silly but there is nothing foolish about converting soybeans to fuel source that can be burned without modification of diesel engines. The only thing foolish about the bio-diesel movement is the fact that I have yet to hear much from the farming community. I'm Susan Allen and this is Food Forethought.
