The first nominee for position of Under Secretary of Agriculture for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs formally introduced himself the full Senate Agriculture Committee.

Ted McKinney filled the committee members in on his background and how he sees the newly created position advancing export opportunities for US farmers.

" I have read and believe in the mission of the Foreign Ag Service. To link US agriculture to the world to enhance export opportunities and global food security. I anticipate investing significant time in many foreign countries, building trust, opening doors for farmers and processors, removing trade barriers."

McKinney, currently Indiana's Secretary of Agriculture, pledged to work cooperatively with all the US agencies that deal with international trade.

The committee will meet again in the coming weeks for a vote on McKinney's nomination.
