This could be a new marketing book. "What color do you like your pumpkin"? Being a traditionalist I prefer orange, round, not oval and not too big. I could be a minority though as the apparent trend this year is towards novel lumpy gourds and eerie-ghost white pumpkins. And sales are brisk. One east coast farm reported the 6000 white pumpkins they thought could be a risk sold lickty-split, so next year they plan on planting 20,000. Apparently, white pumpkins have an ascetic appeal for home decorators and fit artistically, like a piece of sculpture into contemporary interiors. Than there are the faux pumpkins, what is up with that? They can even be carved!. Come to think of it toady I actually miss the muck and mess my little boys and husband made, up to their elbows in pumpkin gunk. The seeds ended up everywhere but on the roasting tray, (walls, hair), but hey, isn't that what Halloween is all about anyway. Have a happy and safe Halloween and don't go buying any fake pumpkins!
