Farming is an interesting profession in that there often pride in the commodity produced. For hop and barley farmers, it's been knowing that they play a part in the success of a good breweries. I think these would feel differently if they knew their crops were used to promote underage binge drinking. Farmers that contract to Miller and Anheuser-Bush, maker of Budweiser, should be aware that these companies are aggressively marketing binge drinking games like beer pong to our university students. After a backlash from alcohol prevention experts and negative exposure in the New York Times, Anheuser-Bush released a statement that they were ending their promotion of Bud pong, their version of beer pong a popular drinking game. Refusing to take the high road they said they were ending the promotion because they believed they had been promoting a game that involved chugging water not beer. How stupid do they think we are! Miller has yet to come clean As a concerned mother of two college students, you can bet neither company will receive my support and if I grew hops or barley for either of these breweries, I would reconsider my contract. I'm Susan Allen and this is Food Forethought.
