I receive interesting feed back from listeners but the top of a plastic container from Earthbound Farm Organic Baby Spinach Salad was a first. This mom had purchased the spinach because she liked that it was packaged in a container not a bag. She was aware of it's certified organic status, but what she wasn't aware of was how angry spinach could make her. When she read the underside of the Earthbound label that said their fruits and vegetables are grown without the use of toxic and persistent chemicals, and that their farming methods replenish the soil and protect the purity of air, water and food supply while preserve natural resources she became furious. You see, this mom also happens to be an orchardist and while not organic, her orchard fertilizers also replenish the soil keeping it productive for generations. The soft chemicals applied to insure fruit is attractive and free from insects are non- toxic, and unless the organic company walks their products to market, they use transportation systems that deplete natural resource too. Elitism in agriculture must stop, we stop it with our pocket books. Thanks Shane for being an astute agtivist.
