 Agriculture organizations across the country are already turning their attention to the development of the 2018 farm bill and the American Farm Bureau Federation is already working on ideas for the next farm bill.  AFB is putting together some early policy ideas in anticipation of testimony before the House and Senate Ag Committees as early as next spring. Mary Kay Thatcher, senior director of congressional relations with AFBF, said the biggest challenge in writing a new farm bill is not enough money.

Elsewhere, and according to myNorthwest.com, apparently Starbucks is getting into the world of politics. Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz gave a surprise endorsement on CNN when he said "he is hopeful that after the election — and hopefully Hillary Clinton will be elected president — we will begin to see a level of unity and people coming together."

Finally,trial is gearing up this week for armed ranchers who took over a national bird sanctuary in rural Oregon.
