Ag Water Workshop May 3rd

Ag Water Workshop May 3rd

On May third in Delta, the Colorado Ag Water Alliance is one of the sponsors of the Ag Water Workshop which will be held at the Delta-Montrose Technical College in Delta. CAWA Greg Peterson says this will be a worthwhile event for those wanting to learn more about the Colorado Water Plan and what some of the alternative transfer methods might be. Peterson says this free workshop which includes lunch will provide informative brief presentations followed by discussion with participants. He shares why ag producers and ag water right holders should consider participating.
Peterson: “Since the Colorado Water Plan rolled out, there is a big emphasis on agriculture and what part of the plan focuses on agriculture. They talk a lot about transferring water as an alternative to buying drying up agricultural communities and agricultural water rights. This workshop is a way to give ag a chance to take ownership of these issues. And inform them, ‘These are all of the programs that are out there, this is the information that is out there.’ But also, ‘What do you think of this information? Which one of these programs would you actually like? What would you participate in? What don’t you like?'”

The other sponsors of this event are the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association and CSU Water Institute. If you are planning on attending, please RSVP by going go www.gunisonag.eventbrite.com
