Bills Colorado Corn is Supporting in CO Legislative Session

This year’s legislative session is scheduled to end on May 11th. Colorado Corn Communications Director Eric Brown says that
Brown: “For the most part the handful that we have supported, four of those are still moving forward and certainly are looking promising in some cases. Again, watching a number of things but as far as the ones we were supporting four of the five are still moving forward.”
Those four bills supported by the CO Corn Growers Association are The Ag Innovation Grants HB 1226. Then three bills focus on water — The South Platte Water Storage Study HB 1256; the Ag Protection Water Right Transfer Mechanism HB 1228 and Appellate Process for Decisions about Groundwater which is HB 1337. So far those four have been moving forward. Brown continues with details about the fifth bill that the organization had supported.
Brown: “One that we did put our support behind that unfortunately the Senate Finance Committee voted to postpone it indefinitely — essentially killing it. There was an E15 gasoline income tax credit for retail dealers that we were supporting. I think there were some questions that the Finance Committee had. Again being only a month out from the finish line — that there just wasn't enough time to hash out some of those questions. So it is something that we will have to look at again next year.”
