Supporting Organic Farming & Opposing TPP. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.

This has been a Presidential season for the record books and it won't be over until all the shouting is complete. In his usual fervor, Republican Presidential hopeful Donald Trump is expressing opposition to the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement. During a campaign rally on Saturday in Eau Claire, WI, Trump believes TPP and other trade agreements have one major flaw.

TRUMP: Currency devaluation and currency manipulation. That's the big weapon and when I started talking about it a year and a half ago, when it was conceived I said you've got to talk about currency manipulation because if you look at China, what they do is they devalue their currency and they kill us. You look at other countries like Japan and others, they devalue their currency and they absolutely kill us. So you have to go out and you have to look at currency manipulation.

Issaquah, Washington based retailer, Costco, says organics is one of the fastest-growing categories in food sales and one in which Costco has become a major player. Costco seems to be taking the organic industry under its wing and is lending money to farmers to buy land to grow organics. The effort is still in its infancy but Costco is looking at expanding the initiative. The fledgling program joins a list of other Costco food initiatives that try to ensure the warehouse giant can meet the major demands of its customers.
