The Christmas Wish

The Christmas Wish

The Christmas Wish. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.

Well, here it is again, Christmas Day. By now you've probably been bulldozed by the kids heading for the presents under the tree and ol St. Nick is back at base camp getting ready to put his feet up. Christmas has changed for me over the years going from the wide eyed kid to the bleary eyed parent and now the krinkle in the corner of the eyes, grandparent. To be honest, there are krinkles all over the face. My two grandkids, 5 and 8 have shown me that it's ok to continue to believe in the impossible. Some people may think that Santa is a myth but I still believe. A few years back I had the opportunity to help Santa out by being one of his helpers at a local shopping center and trust me when I say that is real magic. Magic in the eyes of the kids and magic when you can get the parents to slow down for just a few minutes to remember the excitement of sitting on the old guys lap to relay my Christmas list. So, if you will allow me...here is my Christmas wish. I wish for each and every one of us to take a minute each day and think about someone else. Think about our world leaders and the weight on their shoulders. Think about the elderly struggling to cope in a world not designed for them anymore. Think about the law enforcement and their thankless job and the emergency workers and firefighters. Think about our men and women in the service who are on the front lines for what we believe in...and by all means, think about the children who will be our future. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Blessed Yule to all.
