Recognizing that the industry is coming off of last year’s stellar market and record high prices, Market to Market Host Mike Pearson who is an Iowa businessman and farmer shared.
Pearson: “Buckle your seat belts it is going to be a challenging year on the live cattle and fat cattle side there is going to be potentials down the road. The American consumer is still eating beef. We’re going to build exports back up as the rest to the world’s economy improves. It is going to be a challenge for the next few years. Feeders are going to fall in price. So if you are a cow-calf producers you are going to look at ways to extend ownership. If you are a feedlot, don’t get too aggressive today. There will be better buying opportunities in the future as this herd continues to grow.”
