Who needs to export if we use our own products ?

McDonald's is making the switch to real butter, made with real milk.  That means menu items that were previously made with liquid margarine, including the Egg McMuffin, will now be made with real butter.

That could use an additional 600 million pounds of milk per year.  And, it's another result of a very valuable partnership with the Dairy Checkoff. so why was the headline to this story 'Who needs to export if we use our own products ?', listen carefully. Here's Dairy Management Inc CEO, Tom Gallagher: "It's not just what McDonald's does. It's that everybody else has to follow. And that's where you get the really big bang for your buck. So the 500- to 600 million pounds over the course of a year at McDonald's is one number, and that's a great number. That's equivalent to the butter that was exported from this country last year. But the number is going to grow much bigger." The rollout of butter in McDonald's menu items is expected to be complete within the next few months. The bottom line is we're selling more dairy products.
