Grains End Week on High Note

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for February 16, 2015.
Grains closed the week on a high note with outside markets lending support to the grains. USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders gives an update on last week’s regional cattle market.
Sanders: “Northwest direct cattle report, we had 2500 head of cattle trade this week. Compared to last Friday, feeder cattle were steady to weak in a light test. Feeder steers medium to large frames #1s and #2s current FOB price for 850 to 900 pounds $186 to $186.50 and those were in Oregon and Washington. Holstein steers large frames 2s and 3s current FOB delivery 350 pounds at $235. Replacement heifers on a per head basis for future delivery sold 800 pounds for $1,550 per head.”
Chicago May Wheat ended Friday up 9 and 1/2 cents at 5-29 and 1/4. May corn ended the day up 4 and 1/4 cents at 3-95 and 1/4.
Portland March prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were up 1 to 7 and 3/4 cents ranging between 6-68 and 6-69. White club wheat of ordinary protein had no price comparisons. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 8 and 3/4 cents at mostly 6-69 and 3/4. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 12 and 3/4 cents at mostly 8-77.
April live cattle were up $2.10 on Friday at 153-22 and half. April Feeder cattle were up $2.95 at 203-25. April class III milk was down 23 cents at 15-20.
