Corn and Wheat End Thursday Lower

Corn and Wheat End Thursday Lower

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for February 13, 2015.
Mixed results for Thursday’s close — corn and wheat lower and soybeans higher. From the floor of the CME Group, Virginia McGathey shares her observations of Thursday’s markets.
McGathey: “Thursday’s grain market gave us a little bit of a mixed bag. Everything is settling down after the USDA report. It looks like world supplies are pretty large in all the commodities. There has been a little bit of strong exports coming in beans that gave it a little bit of a lift today. Early morning the market was a little bit lower, information coming out of Brazil means that their crops are a little bit better. Also in the corn, same thing crops are better pushing the market a little bit lower. World supplies are relatively strong — it is the same thing with wheat as well.”
Chicago May Wheat ended Thursday down 4 cents at 5-19 and 3/4. May corn ended the day down 2 and 3/4 cents at 3-91.
Portland March prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were steady to down 3 and 1/2 cents ranging between 6-60 and 1/4 and 6-68. White club wheat of ordinary protein had no price comparisons. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were down 5 and 1/4 cents at mostly 6-61. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were down 1 and 3/4 cents at mostly 8-64 and 1/4.
April live cattle were up 2 and half cents on Thursday at 151-12 and half. April Feeder cattle were up $1.60 at 200-30. April class III milk was up 41 cents at 15-43.
