Alpha Wolf R04 Strikes Again

Kerry Tienhaara an Oregon Rancher and one of the founders of the Oregon Wolf Education reports on a most recent kill of the Imnaha pack’s Alpha Male. R04 has struck again in Oregon’s Wallowa County on private property in close proximity to her neighbor’s house and barn. She shares how the wolves got into the pasture to kill a pregnant ewe at the end of January.?Tienhaara: “Pasture is right next to his house — three sides of the field are electric wire and the wolves had gone around and around and found a way to come in on the one side that is woven wire. They came in and killed the ewe, drug her body a distance. Stopped and ate her internal organs and the lamb she was carrying and left the rest.”?Tienhaara was present at the investigation of Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, US Fish and Wildlife Service and Sheriff’s Office?Tienhaara: “ And they determined that it had been killed definitely by Canadian Gray Wolves, specifically by R04 Imnaha Pack. So that puts the Imnaha pack up to three confirmed kills in the six month period that the new rules give us to work with, to go forward with. You have to have four confirmed kills in qualifying incidences in a six month period before you can remove the chronic killer of livestock — the wolf.?Tienhaara reports weekly on wolf activity, you can hear or read her updates at wolfed.org.
