Split Rail Wines owner Jed Glavin has a high falooting desk job in the city but prefers making unique and splendid wines with his wife Laura. "I miss being able to be out in the field with the whole farming mentality. The time we get to spend in the vineyard with the grapes gives me that release. That is pretty cool. What kind of winds do you produce? We are pretty small but right now we have a rosé on the white side but we try to make a different rosé every year so there is a Rosé petite Bordeaux which is a pretty unconventional rosé. A lot of the grapes that we use we try to do some unconventional stuff. You can go to the stores and buy a lot of Cabernet's, Chardonnays and all that stuff but we play with other kinds of wine unconventional's like I mentioned. On the white side we have a dry style Chenin Blanc which has touches of Muscat and Riesling, so it is kind of that geeky style of white wine that is kind of florally and bright fruit and tart. Then on the, we still do a Cabernet but we usually blend a totally different varietal in it like this year we blended in a grade that gives it a really juicy character. We do a typical Rhône style grape that can be blended but we love it on its own. We also did a true Rhône blend this year. Where do consumers by your wine? Farmers market? We do the farmer's market, the Co-op and Whole Foods
