Thanks KayDee. Well it’s Christmas Day and we wanted to check in with Idaho Food Banks Jenifer Johnson to see what their needs might be during this time of year.

JOHNSON: As we enjoy a wonderful Christmas holiday with our families and are gathered around those Christmas Day dinners it is wonderful to know that so many people have contributed and helped those who are hungry in Idaho also enjoy a wonderful Christmas dinner with their families today. And especially those families who we have been able to provide with some wonderful roasts and ground beef this time of year through the Beef Counts Program.

Johnson talks about how the Beef Counts program works.

JOHNSON: Through funds that are raised through the beef counts program from the ranchers and the producers, at the auction yards and at the rollovers and the events that have happened throughout the state those funds are used and matched by Agribeef and we use that to place an order - and that order is then redistributed across the stat and it has come in the form of roasts for the past years but this quarter we were also able to add ground beef.

She says they are always looking for monetary gifts and volunteers. If you’d like to help out you can get more information at idahofoodbank.org.
