AgChat Foundation Holds Northwest Regional Agvocacy Conference in Portland

For Pacific Northwest farmers and ranchers who are interested in learning more about telling their ag story through social media; there will be a regional AgChat Foundation conference to be held in Portland on January 30 and 31st.

Jeff Vanderwerff, President of AgChat Foundation shares more about what participants will learn.

VanderWerff: “What we are going to gear towards at these regional events is not only giving people some of the practical tools to use social media, but we recognize that a lot of folks are already using social media in their daily lives. We want to help them learn how to use that to connect folks to agriculture and their farm. We’re going to do some training. We don’t get into a lot of messaging but we will talk a little bit about how to handle some detractors against what you are doing. How to talk within our industry, how to work people outside of our industry. Then we get into some nuts and bolts advance things -- like search engine optimization and YouTube video production blogging -- any of those type of things. Maybe you have been using Facebook and you have always thought about writing a blog -- this is the event for you because we will show you how that successfully.”

In additional to the learning and networking with other farmers and ranchers from across the region, attendees will have the opportunity to explore food-focused businesses and connect with key food influencers while at this event.
