USPB Releases 3.0 Version of App

The United States Potato Board is always looking for ways to improve communications with U.S. potato industry participants. And its most recent version, 3.0 of their smartphone and tablet USPB app help enhance communications.

David Fraser, USPB Vice President Industry Communications and Policy, says this new version -- when downloaded or updated -- will be asking the same questions that annually the USPB asks of industry participants through the industry profile update, but will do so in a more efficient way.

Fraser: “It is actually asking the very same questions -- which is simply your very quick demographic information and what sectors you grow for and what your primary sector is. That helps us reduce our cost of that program on an annual basis and anytime we can save budget on one program, we can use it somewhere else and reduce our cost on the profile update. The second thing it also does-- we are trying to move to - though it won’t happen over night -- we are moving towards what is called dynamic segmentation.”

Fraser adds that dynamic segmentation for example will allow a primarily chip stock grower to receive very targeted and timely information about the chip stock sector.
