5-29 IAN Dietician Day
Getting into your work literally.
Talk about devotion to your job. In a recent field trip, the Registered Dietitians of Idaho had their annual meeting in Boise and as part of this event, they visited Sunnyside Farms and talked with Freida Lee and her husband Art. Here’s Frieda: “The Registered Dietitians of Idaho had their annual meeting in Boise and they wanted to see some crops as they were growing and they thought the only type of crop that would be growing this time of year is asparagus so they are going to stop and see asparagus growing and then they are going to go to ACD Farms and see greenhouses and spinach growing in a field so they can understand how food is produced.” Lee’s husband Art applauds the efforts of these dietitians in terms of their actually getting their hands dirty, so to speak. “They are from all across the state and a lot of these ladies have never seen production agriculture and it was really nice for them to go out and stand in the field and see what is going on. I opened up the questions and they had a lot of great questions like, how do you water this, how long does it last, do you have to planted every year, all kinds of things that farmers take for granted. These people start asking questions and you realize the things that you need to be telling people when you are talking about agriculture and trying to portray your message, these are the questions they had that you might not think of asking unless you have a chance to, so that is what we need to be telling people and this is a great chance to get our word out. Tell them what were doing and how we are doing it.
