Best Of Labor Conference Breakout Webinar Series

I’m Lacy Gray with Washington Ag Today.

The labor conference hosted by the Washington Farm Labor Association earlier this year was well attended; so well attended in fact that WAFLA’s Kim Bresler says they wanted to take an opportunity to repeat half of the conference breakouts in the form of webinars for those people who maybe weren’t able to attend a particular breakout during the conference, or were unable to attend the labor conference at all. The webinars will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout May and the first part of June. The first one being tomorrow from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Bresler talks about what will be covered in the individual webinars.

BRESLER: The first one is Hot Topics: Employment Standards Program Labor and Industries. We work close with the employment standards program at Labor and Industries, and we have a phenomenal presenter that does outreach for them to come and speak about the farm labor contractors section and other employment programs. Next is the managing workers comp claims and costs. And then we go into the hiring progressive discipline and termination best practices. That’s conducted from an attorney, Adam Belzberg, from Seattle law firm Graham & Dunn PC. And then we’re going into “What is a farm labor contractor and am I working with one right now?” Finishing off with an EEOC navigating investigation process and then the I-9 audits and Social Security No-match.

And in case you were wondering, Bresler explains who should be attending the webinar sessions.

BRESLER: Small business owners, H.R. managers, owners - anyone and everyone that needs to be up on labor and employment issues.
