Pendleton Cattle Barons

Pendleton Cattle Barons

Welcome to Open Range, I’m KayDee Gilkey. Here’s Greg with the AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks Kaydee. The Pendleton Cattle Barons weekend gets underway May 9-11. It’s a great weekend for the entire family according to co-founder Pat Beard.

BEARD: This is the sixth year and it’s an event that was created in Pendleton and I was one of the founding members of the event. There’s three phases of it. One is to honor local ranchers and also to carry on the heritage of ranching in our area. The second part is to create tourism for Pendleton and third, and maybe the most important part of it, all net proceeds go to create scholarships for kids going into agricultural pursuits.

There are a number of individual events that make up the weekend.

BEARD: One is the Western Select Gelding sale. Then there’s the North American Stock Saddle Bronc Riding Championship. The Buckaroo Barbecue Challenge which is sponsored by AgriBeef which is 25 pit-master teams barbecuing for bragging rights and prize money.

Other events include Team Branding, Stock Dog Sale, Bit, Spur and Silversmith Show and of course the Tradin’ Post, For more details on the event and a schedule visit cattlebarons.net.

I’m Greg Martin and that’s today’s AgriBeef Minute.

Thanks Greg. Don’t forget Greg will be back each Wednesday with the AgriBeef Minute. Agri Beef Co - Real Families, Great People, Exceptional Beef. I’m KayDee Gilkey.
