3-21 IAN Illegals

 Directly from the Idaho Statesman...listen to this: “U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador said recently that 90 percent of the approximately 8,300 people on dairy farms' payrolls are illegal immigrants.  Bob Naerebout, executive director of the Idaho Dairymen's Association, said he uses a slightly lower figure, based on U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates and Idaho's experience with audits by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. According to Bob: "The number falls between 75 and 80 percent,". Each operation is going to be different - some won't be that high."  I spoke with Governor Otter about this subject and he offered an explanation for the presence of so many illegal aliens: “ that 90% was looking for a better life. I think we could be less attractive if we were not so government oriented on taking care of people. The more goodies and stuff that you put out there, though more people are going to want them.”  Most insiders will tell you unabashedly that without these foreign workers, the dairy business would be out of business.
