Talk about being conflicted. Legalizing marijuana is a movement that is going on throughout the West and now has veered to the Southeast. The Movement for Marijuana Legalization lights up Atlanta. The Atlanta-based Movement for Marijuana Legalization officially launches its legalization campaign in Atlanta. M4ML begins a fact-based discussion about marijuana policy reform and regulation tailored for the South. M4ML was founded by a group of native Atlantans that understand the economic and social benefits created by marijuana regulation and believe that Atlanta, and ultimately the entire U.S., will benefit from this inexpensive and renewable natural resource. Impassioned Executive Director D. Macris explains his logic: “ I’m approaching it from both a social and economic approach. The reason I am reframing the message is to create the message in such a way that the more conservatives will listen to the point like, I was born in Atlanta and lived here all of my life. I have been on both sides of the issue. I have used marijuana. Not so much anymore because I am an adult, I have things to do and cannot sit around and he stoned all day. Any time I have had problems with something it was because I was drinking alcohol. I quit smoking marijuana when I was younger because I was told that it was bad. I started taking other medications to help me with anxiety and sleep and found out that those medications were, in my opinion, far more addictive and caused me problems.
