Well, it is that time of year when commodity membership organizations meet. On November 12th through the 14th, Idaho, Oregon and Washington Grain Growers are encouraged to attend the Tri-State Grain Growers Convention in CDA, Idaho at the lovely CDA Resort.

Idaho Grain Growers President Joe Anderson invites all the Pacific Northwest grain growers to attend this exciting event.

Anderson: “This year’s theme is “States without Borders”. Idaho, Oregon and Washington so much of our dryland population especially have a lot of issues in common whether it is research, legislative and climate. There is a lot of common ground. Even the other parts of the states -- whether you go to the high rainfall Willamette Valley in Oregon or the irrigated Southern Idaho get to share in a lot of those same issues too.”

In addition to keynote speakers alike weatherman Art Douglas, economist Randy Fortenberry there will also be a panel on Biotechnology. Anderson urges grain growers to attend as their opinions matter to their state’s organizations.

Anderson: “Just like to remind everybody that these three organizations are grassroots. When we go back and try to advocate for our positions in the Farm Bill, we need input from all of our members. This is one of the times we get together and fine tune our resolutions and get input from our growers.”

If you haven’t yet registered, there is still time go to your state’s grain growers website to register.
