8-22 SS WA Seasons

An interesting person working for the state of Washington Fish and Game.

Amy Spoon is an area habitat biologist for Washington Fish and Game but she is so much more. She has agreed to become a regular correspondent on Sportsman’s Spotlight and she makes her debut today by laying out the various hunting season specifics. Make no mistake. Not only does she work for Fish and Game but she is an avid outdoors person herself. Right now she’s in the middle of bear season and tells me she loves to bow hunt, but I digress. Here’s Amy. “Bears started August 1 here and that runs for a couple of months so if you are out elk hunting and deer hunting and you have not gotten your bear yet, if you still have your tag that is always an option. Early archery elk  which is what I do, starts the very beginning of September and runs for just a couple of weeks. Then there is a break but you also get a late-season archery elk season right around Thanksgiving time and it usually extends into the middle of December. We have our general deer season starting October 13 this year and I believe it runs through the 31st. We also have an extended buck season for 4 days in November. Waterfowl season begins October 13 as well this year and runs through January. Starting now through January there is quite a bit of stuff that you can do.
