6-6 FB Wolves and Ewes

Going hunting for wolves who are killing sheep in the mountains of Idaho. According to a news article in the Idaho Mountain Express One female wolf was killed near Carey last week in response to nearly a dozen sheep deaths earlier this month, state officials reported.Todd Grimm, state director for U.S. Wildlife Services, said that the wolf was tracked and killed Thursday morning. A Wildlife Services fixed-wing plane flew over John Peavey's Flat Top Ranch property on Thursday and found a recently killed sheep, Grimm said. I talked to Stan Boyd, Executive Director of the Idaho Wool Growers Association and asked him what he knew: “I talked with John and the range lands up there so there might be 50 head in this draw and 60 head in that draw and they keep them in small numbers so that the ewes can mother up with the lambs better and he just got a pack of wolves up there that I just hitting them and you are right, finally Wildlife Services did go in there and take one wolf last week, and the Defenders of Wildlife are in their raising Cain with folks and they’ve got a County Commissioner up there that is very sympathetic towards the Defenders of Wildlife so John’s got his hands full.”
