The Washington State Beef Commission, Oregon Beef Council and California Beef Council, teamed up with Dane Rauschenberg a extreme athlete, author and speaker to prove the power of protein.

Rauschenberg ran 350 miles up the Coastal Highway 101 in seven days. He ran 26 miles each morning then would stop at schools and community events along the route to speak about the importance of diet and exercise and then run another marathon mileage each afternoon. Rauschenberg shares his message to students and audiences along his journey.

Rauschenberg: “They need to do the research and realize what their body can do when it’s fueled by lean beef. You know we always hear about carbing up before the race. I tell them that I protein up. We always hear that you are a runner, you can eat whatever you want. I say you know what I treat my body the way people treat a finely tuned car. You wouldn’t go and buy a new porshe and put the 83 gasoline in it, you would put in the good gasoline in it. That is what I do with beef, I want the proper fuel to get me to the finish.”

Rauschenberg didn’t begin running until two years before he ran 52 marathons in 52 weeks in 2006. In early March he completed a 100-mile ultra-marathon. He shares his passion for inspiring others.

Rauschenberg: “We are all born to do something amazing, we just have to find out what it is. You’ve just got to keep searching and challenging yourself and ignore the impossible, that is kinda of my tagline.”
