3-29 IAN Perspective
It’s amazing how, when you look at things one way it seems right, and when you look at it another way it seems wrong. Its perspective. We all applaud the notion of clean water. The EPA is trying to do that. But how high they enforcing their goal. The Idaho Cattle Association has in the recent past, issued comments regarding their distaste for the (EPA) proposed rule pertaining to Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) under Section 308.Wyatt Prescott outlined the kinds of information required by EPA: “Their proposal requires that any operation meeting CAFO requirements must provide the EPA with this long list of information. Owner contact information, longitude and latitude, the location number and type of livestock, acreage of land, etc. etc. and all of this information would be placed on a searchable database on EPA’s website. So this is big brother to the max. Yes in a lot of ways it is. Some of the implications relate to the animal rights extremists who claimed responsibility for the arson of those 14 cattle trucks at the Harris Ranch feed yard in California. This would make attacks like those increasingly easy for those groups to do that. Plus if it is enacted under the Clean Water Act then any operation who chooses not to comply would be subject to fines up to $37,500 I day under the Clean Water Act.”
