3-30 IAN FFA Contest

3-30 IAN FFA Contest

I have a 5 year friendship with Sid Freeman who is a very successful local ag producer. One reason I have so much respect for said is that he is very involved with all levels of farming including the FFA. He recently called me to let me know about a contest that FFA chapters are holding and rather than me talk let’s listen to Sid: “This year the tractor’s a 1952 John Deere B with a 3 point on it. Brand-new tires thanks to Les Schwab. Brand-new paint job. My son and his friends did mechanical work on it and replaced seals and gaskets and now it runs like a top. It has a 55 gallon, 3 point sprayer on the back of it with a 25 foot hose and a hand wand and we also have a Trigger pellet barbecue grill donated by Campbell tractor as a secondary prize. Every chapter in the state has 60 tickets to sell and they sell for $10. Our goal is to raise $50,000 and 60% of the money we raise will go to $1000 scholarships for FFA  kids and 25% will go back to the Idaho FFA foundation itself and 5% will go to the chapter on the designated winning ticket. Last year it was Weizer Idaho.  They got $1100 and used that money to send a kid back to Washington DC to the national FFA leadership conference.
