Trendsetters In The Pacific Northest
I’ve always liked spotting trends and love fall fashion so imagine my delight to read in the Wall Street Journal’ that Fall's handsomest men’s clothing designs are inspired by the burly, moody Pacific Northwest. That’s you guys, our brothers, dads, hubbys and friends. I’m Susan Allen stay tuned on Open Range to learn why our Northwest men are considered international trend setters. Don’t’ you dare toss out those old carharts, filson fieldcoats, and grubby hunting boots, they are all now considered the height of fall fashion for the urban set! According to the Wall Street Journal, fashion editor outdoorsy Northwest men, be they cowboy, hunters, hikers or fishermen have a certain “ vibe” coveted by city guys. Designers report my husband’s old brush pants show an “appreciation of a vintage , organic process”. Hum I never thought of those dark stains from years of cleaning pheasants that way! But I do like what Nathan Laffin creative director of Seattle based Eddie Bauer said in the article that the “East Coast is a mental way of being but out west we’re more about doing, building, climbing, achieving, conquering!” One reason Eddie Bauer whose founder designed the infamous down parka after nearing freezing to death fishing in Washington, is reintroducing the 1940’s coat this year, and they are calling it the Skyliner. We’ll leave the faux vintage Skyliner jackets to desperate urbanites trying to capture what the paper called the humble, robust dark side of our Northwest men. Come to think I’ve seen the real deal in the back of my dads closet. Ebay time
