Idaho School Reform & NASS Survey

Idaho School Reform & NASS Survey. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Northwest Report.

At the beginning of March - USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service will be sending out surveys to a random sample of agricultural producers across the country. Tim Jones - Agricultural Program Specialist with the Farm Service Agency - explains the purpose of the surveys.

JONES: NASS will be issuing some surveys and hopefully producers will reply to this survey request. More and more government and agriculture leaders use producer provided information to make sound program decisions and in turn these program decisions affect producers’ financial situation. So hopefully, hopefully the producers will reply to the request.

A plan to reform Idaho's public education system faces more changes in the state Legislature, where the sweeping overhaul has so far dominated the 2011 session.

Senate Majority Leader Bart Davis said Tuesday lawmakers are working to address concerns over public schools chief Tom Luna's plan to boost technology in the classroom and require students to take online courses while increasing class sizes and cutting about 770 teaching jobs. The legislation was already been reworked in the Senate Education Committee amid opposition from parents, teachers and some lawmakers. More than 1,000 teachers, parents and students rallied in front of the Idaho Capitol on Monday in their fight to beat back the proposed overhaul.

Now here’s today’s Washington Grange report.
