Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. Every so often I come across some really clever wine websites that I enjoy this past month I found a website called snooth and it was featuring what they considered the top seven wine emergencies and how to deal with them. I just have to share a few tidbits. There is no one I know who at some point hasn't broken a cork when trying to open a bottle of wine. AND the craziness that ensues while trying to pull it out can be nerve wracking. But the website I saw recommended not fighting it just push it in but the tool to push it in was a wooden spoon. How perfect - the spoon is long enough not to loose it in the wine, and it won't make the cork crumble even more. Next they recommend a solution for leftover wine, which I have advocated for years. Pour the leftover wine into a smaller half bottle. That way there is less oxygen in the bottle and if you refrigerate it you will also slow down the deterioration of the wine. I save my 375 milliliter dessert wine bottles for just these occasions. And I love the final suggestion for what to do with a wine that isn't awful or really even bad – but one that you don't care for. Just save it to cook with or to make Sangria this summer! Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
