Heading into May Weather

Heading Into May Weather. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report. April showers...well there hasn't been a lot of that across the state but May will be here soon and the weather is really starting to cooperate with growers across the region after a cold front brought some significant snow across the Cascades and into north central Washington. Tim Creek, meteorologist for the Ag Info Network takes a look at what the next couple of weeks might hold for us. CREEK: I am anticipating as we get into the second half of April and actually the first half of May to have a relatively mild weather pattern in place into the northwest and as a result I'm not looking for – let's say persistent threats of frost. I'm sure we'll see an occasional threat of temperatures dropping into the lower 30's but I think in many of the nights ahead over the next maybe 2 or 3 weeks that the frost threats are going to be pretty minor. Now overall the pattern is still going to be somewhat active, we'll see occasional threats of scattered showers but I wouldn't say anything more than what you'd expect in the later part of April or the first part of May. So if you had to put it in terms of compared to normal I would say temperatures are going to be slightly above normal maybe, precipitation right around normal and the potential of frost or frost threat should be relatively minor. That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Northwest Ag Information Network.
