Rant!

Rant!

Welcome to Vine to Wine, I'm your host Linda Moran. Yet another listener has written to say they have heard several of our programs in which I recommend befriending your local wine merchants. They have tried and find it very difficult as the person in the wine department seems to be quite a snob and very condescending. Let's chat because I need to rant about this! To me there is no place for snobbery when it comes to wine. You are breaking my heart! This is an unfortunate occurrence and I have no good answer for you. Wine is a beverage that, at times, benefits from some explanation. I think a good wine merchant recognizes that his or her business will grow if they are gracious and generous with their knowledge. It builds loyal customers and a bright future. If your wine merchant doesn't get it then move on and find someone who is gracious and willing to help you. Depending on how large a community you live in there may be more than one place to choose from and perhaps you will hit it off at one of the others, even if it isn't as close to your home or work. There is often a wine specialist or someone who has access to wine information in your local grocery store. Don't overlook your favorite restaurant either, sometimes the person in charge of the wine program is happy to spend a few minutes making some recommendations for you. The internet is also a great tool for investigating new trends and recommendations. You may just find an online wine merchant that you like. And remember you can always send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net. And thanks for joining me on Vine to Wine.
