Employment Opportunities in Ag

 Where should you or your kids go looking for a job? High tech? Industry? Sales and Marketing? Back in a minute to tell you all those opportunities exist in a field I suspect you are very familiar with. Shane Stevenson is an Agricultural Sciences teacher in the Meridian School District who recently returned from a convention of his peers in Tennessee. Part of the agenda related to the vast number of job opportunities that exist in agriculture. He’s proud that he teaches his students about a wide variety of agricultural subjects with the knowledge that they are pursuing a very viable career track: “There’s exciting careers, there’s competitive careers, there’s more careers in ag than most people realize. What we need to look at to get the kids in those careers is marketing. Kids gotta’ know what it is as people get more into technology and removed from actual production, I don’t think our young people realize where they can fit into it.”

But as I said in the beginning, and according to Shane, there’s high tech, sales, management, animal science, crop science…you name it, there’s a huge number of opportunities to fit your skill set.
