American Horse League

Animal rights groups are very well established in our country today. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be back after this to tell you about a new organization that takes a different approach to animal rights. Radical animal rights advocates seem to have the ear of many Americans. The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) use every worst case scenario they can find to portray as the norm of animal agriculture. These incidents are not sanctioned by the vast majority of those involved in raising animals. But, radical groups only report and publicize situations that will promote their actual agenda of eliminating animal agriculture as a business. Many times the actions of these people cause more neglect to the animals they claim to be helping. This is especially seen to be true in the horse industry when humane horse processing was stopped. Many horses were simply abandoned to fend for themselves if they could. The American Horse League has been organized in South Dakota as a non-profit corporation to take on these types of radical groups that lobby for an end to humane common-sense animal ownership. The group's mission statement is to fight for our livelihoods and our rights in the courts, the media and in our nation's Capital. The American Horse League's first fundraiser will be June 14 at St. Onge Livestock in St. Onge, South Dakota. Tomorrow, I'll tell you a few details of the event and how to get more information about this new group that cares about animals and the people who care for them. I'm Jeff Keane.
