American Horse League
Yesterday, I told you about a new organization that advocates for animal welfare and rights of the people who own them. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be back in one minute to tell you more about that group. The American Horse League has been filed as a non-profit south Dakota corporation to counter the radical animal rights groups that would like to see an end to humane, common-sense animal ownership. The Humane Society of The United States and the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals are two of the organizations the America Horse League will be up against. These are worthy adversaries that are well funded and well established. Many of the people who donate money to these groups don't really understand their true agenda - it is not only about helping animals since they would actually like to see the end of animal agriculture. I'm proud of the founders of the American Horse League putting their ideals and beliefs out in front of everyone and committing to refute some of the outrageous claims and conceptions put forth by extreme animal rights organizations. The American Horse League's first fundraiser will be a rollover auction of a horse at the St. Onge Livestock monthly horse sale in St. Onge, South Dakota on June 14. The horse was rescued from a neglectful owner with the aid of the local sheriff department. According to the group this animal typifies the need for a humane and responsible end in this segment of the livestock industry. My bet is this horse will find a nice home this time.
