Our young people will determine the future of the cattle Industry.  I’m Jeff Keane stay tuned after the break; I’ll be back with a unique scholarship opportunity.  Given the wealth of technology, a global economy and the volatile cattle market it’s no surprise that today’s youth are electing other career paths. Beef Industry officials are aware of the acute need to recrute bright young people in order to remain a strong entity. One group has taken aggressive new steps.  Here’s Susan Allen with the story. Jeff, The National Cattlemen’s Foundation takes to heart their mission to advance the future of the beef Industry with passion and urgency. The group just announced that it’s launching a new initiative called the Bright Futures Scholarship Fund. The Fund’s purpose is to provide educational opportunities through   financial assistance in a variety of fields; under graduate programs, masters PhD’s, Veterinary Medicine, even culinary arts. The Bright Futures Initiative is funded through donations from individuals, corporations, associations, and organizations with the aim of developing future leaders and inspiring young people to pursue careers in agriculture and the beef industry. Susan, the economy has impacted many students ability to attend college; others leave school terribly in debt.  The Bright Futures initiative will help ensure exceptional individuals remain in our industry.
