Traveling with Food & Wine Part 5

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. With the vacation season upon us we spent this week discussing traveling with food & wine in mind. Today I want to discuss an option which we rarely consider when we think about vacation.
As I said all week whenever we plan a trip or vacation we head to the internet to gather information. I am often perusing websites looking for interesting places to stay or rent in wine country. However, last year for our anniversary my husband I decided to stay home. We took our vacation by shopping for all of our favorite foods and splurging on some very good wines! To make it just perfect we topped it off by disconnecting all phones. Staying at home for several days, taking day trips and visiting places closer to home that we talk about wanting to visit but never did was a lot of fun. In fact I recommend you consider the possibilities. I mean have you ever Googled your area and found out there is an award winning diner near by that serves awesome breakfast or that you have the best grilled cheese sandwiches in the known universe right in your town? Well we did! In fact there are some great websites for most anyplace you plan to travel with food & wine in mind. Sometimes staying at home and close to home is one of the best times you will ever have. Just make a few rules so that you do not fall into any bad habits like cleaning out your garage or forgetting that you are on vacation. It may take some discipline the first hour or so but trust me it is possible and it is worth it!
Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
