An event in Pendleton Oregon this Thursday honors a person who has inspired countless cowboys and ranchers.  I’m Jeff Keane, stay tuned I’ll be back after the break with who it is. There isn’t a rancher or cowboy who hasn’t been touched   by a western woman; be it ranch wife or cowgirl, ranch women work long hours often in remote locations and primitive conditions. As the son of one of these remarkable individuals I counted it  a privilege to be asked to emcee ‘in the Company  of Cowgirls an invitational art show and reception that is the kick off  event of  Pendleton’s Cattle Baron Weekend  this coming  Thursday night May 7at 6:00 at Hamley’s Steakhouse in Pendleton.  Jeff, It is going to be a blast, cowgirl poetry, film, music and western art…I’m in my element! As someone who dabbles in painting I can’t wait to view the work of fourteen of Oregon’s best woman western artists. In fact the art they’ll be selling is posted on line at inthecompanyof cowgirls.com . Each artist’s depicts women's involvement in Oregon’s agricultural, ranch and rodeo heritage in a different way or medium. ‘In the company of Cowgirls is free, sponsored in part by Oregon Women for Agriculture. So join us at the artist reception Thursday night at Hamley’s Steakhouse in Pendleton. There will be good food, spirits and even Oregon 150 birthday cake. I’m Jeff Keane
