Green Revolution Part 1

Green Revolution Part 1

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. Today we are going to discuss how the green revolution is affecting the wine industry.
There is such a buzz about our global environment and how we as inhabitants of the planet can minimize our carbon footprint and this of course is of significant interest to many in the manufacturing sector. Well guess what - it has been a topic of conversation for many decades already in the wine industry. Long before it hit the headlines or became all the rage in our grocery stores. It probably began most prevalently in the vineyards as slowly but surely grape growers moved to more sustainable and even organic and biodynamic methods of farming. If you know anything about the background of the Fetzer family in California, you know they have been pioneering everything from growing grapes to barrel making to packaging and of course recycling, all with great concern for our planet. The wine industry is a quiet leader in the world when it comes to being good shepherds of the earth. Of course some of their concerns and actions are based upon the basic economics of rising fuel costs and all that is associated with that issue. But rest assured the terms Carbon footprint and carbon neutral are not just words being thrown about in the wine industry actions are speaking louder than words and the substance behind the words is truly impressive. Join me tomorrow as we continue to discuss the wine industry going green. Email your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thank you for joining me on today’s
