11/14/08 New Favorite

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran and as many of you know my new favorite wine is usually the wine that is in my glass at the time. I mean why bother wasting the calories on a wine that you don't like? Today I want to tell you about my new favorite wine. Recently I was running around taking friends wine tasting in the Columbia Valley of eastern Washington and we went to visit the Prosser Wine Village just off of Hwy. 82 in Prosser. I wanted to visit the new winery of a long time grower Butch Milbrandt, who I had admired for his vineyards and the unique fruit he produced. Having long been a fan of the Chardonnay coming from his vineyards I decided to start their. I was delighted to find that they are producing three styles of Chardonnay. I tasted them side by side and each one was delicious for very different reasons. The fascinating thing is to actually find a winery that even though they had a Chardonnay in the trio that had a little more oak than the others it was still not overpowered or out of balance due to the oak. Which I believe personally happens way too often. The Legacy Sundance Chardonnay was my personal favorite and it retails for 20 dollars a bottle. But don't take my word for it go try them for yourself. I guarantee you will not only enjoy the wines but you will learn something about how a vineyard influences the different tastes of the wines we drink. Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
