11/12/08 Wine & Travel

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran today we are going to discuss Wine and Travel. Whenever I travel, whether it is to one of the world's wine regions or a city that is new to me, I am always searching out places to enjoy new wines. Restaurants whether posh and sophisticated or just warm and down home will be of interest to me. I love to read about great new restaurants and their wine program. I like to hear about wineries and their hospitality programs. If during the upcoming holidays you find yourself traveling a bit I recommend you take a little time before you leave to research the restaurants in your destination to find appealing venues. I often have a girlfriend's shopping weekend in Portland, OR. We love to stay at the Benson Hotel downtown. The hotel is always beautifully decorated for the holidays and the lobby bar has an excellent selection of wine by the glass. In addition you can walk or take fabulous public transportation to the northwest neighborhood where two of my favorite restaurants are. The Tuscany grill is small and cozy with traditional food and a very extensive Italian wine list. Ask for help selecting your wine the staff is marvelous. Then just down the street is Lucy's Table another small restaurant that has delightful seasonal cuisine and a great selection of northwest wines. Whenever and wherever you may travel if you have an experience that you would like to share, please jump on the internet and send me an email at Linda at vine to wine dot net. I am always willing to take a recommendation! Good travels, good times and good wine await us all, and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
