When most producers think of beef promotion I believe their thoughts turn to the Beef Checkoff. I'm Jeff Keane; I'll be right back to tell you about another organization's program to advance beef sales. The Beef Checkoff has funded and designed many programs to elevate beef consumption, but the American Meat Institute (AMI) has just released a new educational video series to market all meats including beef. The mini-movies will be titled: "Ask the Meat Science Guy," featuring meat expert, Randy Huffman, Ph.D. who is also president of the American Meat Institute Foundation. The series includes nine different versions that should answer many of the meat and meat safety questions consumers might have. The first three include Cooking Steaks and Burgers Safely I've already got my popcorn ready for that one, Cured Meats and Nitrite and number three Processed Meat and Pregnancy. The AMI has also developed a safe handling "B-roll" for broadcast media. This video sites steps that should be taken at the grocery store, during the trip home and while preparing and cooking meat. To view these productions visit www.youtube.com/meatnewsnetwork. You can request the "B-roll" by emailing tsuper@meatomi.com. Want more information on meat safety? Well just go to www.meatsafety.org. Hey! Check out those true, tasteful mini movies for you and your family. I'm Jeff Keane. AMI 9/9
